DP Ruto set to address Kenyans today

Deputy President William Ruto is reportedly set to address the Nation on the daily Covid-19 updates that have only been made by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Ministry of Health Officials.

The details were made public by former State House digital communications director Dennis Itumbi, a close associate of the Deputy President.

He made the revelations through his social media pages.

“DP @WilliamsRuto to address the Nation today #Kenya #covid19kenya #COVIDー19,” Itumbi disclosed.

DP Ruto, despite saying he was working closely with the President in the fight against the spread of coronavirus, has not been seen publicly speaking on the matter.

On Monday the DP missed being part of a key address by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi only to post on his social media, emphasizing on the need for Kenyans to take personal responsibility.

“Fellow countrymen/women, HE the President has issued enhanced measures including containment in Nairobi, Kilifi, Kwale and Mombasa; use of face masks; supply of free water in informal settlements.

“Its our patriotic duty to do our part to ensure these measures succeed.We shall overcome,” he wrote on Twitter, minutes after the president’s address.

President Kenyatta in his address to the nation was accompanied by among others CS Fred Matiang’i, the head of public service Joseph Kinyua and new cabinet entrant CS Mutahi Kagwe.

Also at State House was ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru who is part of the president’s Covid-19 response team that has so far recorded confirmed 158 coronavirus cases since March 13.

DP Ruto, who recently denied working on his Sugoi farm, simply sent a tweet a few minutes after the president’s address with no media accompaniment to signal he may have been with the president or at State House.
