KANU’s party leader and One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principal Gideon Moi has echoed President Uhuru Kenyatta who asked Kenyans not to elect thieves and crooks in the 2022 general elections.

Speaking in Kajiado county on Saturday, October 30, Moi asked Kenyans to vote for leaders who will take care of the needs of ordinary citizens.

“Choose leaders who will take care of your needs and please do not vote for thieves,” Moi said.

Moi made the statement hours after Garisa Town MP Aden Duale asked President Uhuru to be specific after he asked Kenyans not to vote in thieves and crooks.

According to Duale, Uhuru insulted Jubilee supporters who voted for him when he said that there are crooks in government.

“You are telling us the eight million Jubilee supporters in your own reading are full of con men, crooks and thieves. That is an insult to the Jubilee family and your supporters,” Duale said.

The Garisa town MP further told President Uhuru that he has all the state machinery within his reach to ensure crooks do not ascend to elective posts.

“If there is anybody who is a thief in Kenya and wants to be an elected leader, Mr President you have all the instruments of power to stop that person. You have the National Intelligence Service, the EACC, the DCI and the auditor general,” Duale said.

Speaking in Kiambu county on Friday, Uhuru advised voters not to elect “thieves” and cautioned them against divisive and empty political rhetoric, saying his focus was achieving his development agenda for the country.

“Please don’t allow Mwai Kibaki’s 10 years and my 10 years to be destroyed by electing thugs and thieves,” Kenyatta said in his native Kikuyu language.
