“Jaribuni muone”~Angry Raila responds to Linturi’s “madoadoa”remarks

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has castigated the contentious remarks Meru Senator Mithika Linturi made at a Saturday rally in Eldoret.

Speaking on Sunday at the Kibichiku Secondary School grounds in Kiambu County, Odinga said that every Kenyan has the right to live freely anywhere in the country.

“Jana walikuwa kule Eldoret, ati ‘madoadoa’. Mimi nawajibu hapa… Mkikuyu ana haki kuishi Eldoret sii kwa kibali ya mtu, Mkikiyu akuje aishi Homa Bay,” said the ODM leader.

The August presidential hopeful further said that revamping the sports sector was part of his agenda if elected president, adding that he would make sure that Kenya sends teams to international football championships.

“Tunataka kuona kama michezo inainuka, team ya Kenya haiko Cameroon,” said Odinga, “next time nitahakikisha Kenya iko AFCON na ile World Cup Kenya itakuwa inacheza.”

Odinga’s Sunday visit was to honor mothers of political prisoners, including his own who died while he was under political detention.

His government, according to his day’s itinerary, will see to it that mothers of political prisoners get housing and State recognition.

Linturi has meanwhile, been under fire over the Saturday comments, which have been construed as advocating for tribal segregation.

He was arrested in an Eldoret hotel on Sunday morning following a directive by Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji to the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai.
