Ksh6.9million meant for beers in a KDF canteen disappear Mysteriously

Investigations have been heightened at Isiolo’s Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) camp after the  abrupt disappearance of beers and beer stock cash worth Ksh6.9 million.

The money was reportedly lost gradually due to a manipulation of the Electronic Business Suite system at a canteen of Isiolo’s 78 Tank Battalion and School of Artillery (SOA).

The alarm was raised following an audit of the books handled by two civilian staff members who worked at the canteen.

The two staffers, identified as Peterson Kariuki Mbita and Boniface Kimathi Kinyua, have since been arrested in relation to the disappearance of the alcohol.

Kariuki was accused of engineering the loss of Ksh6.6 million while his accomplice, Kinyua, is believed to have led to the disappearance of stock and stock cash work Ksh301,000.

“Preliminary audit report indicated that Kariuki was responsible for loss of Ksh6,637,953 while Kimathi could not account for Ksh301,259 in form of physical stock and stock cash,” read a court document as per Nation.

The two were detained in police custody after they were deemed a flight risk by Corporal Joseph Kibet, the investigating officer.
