On the Thursday of May 12, 2022, Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata shared part of his election plan for his county in the build-up to the August 9 General Election.
Through a UDA party ticket, the lawmaker seeks to succeed Governor Mwangi Wa Iria as the second Murang’a governor; Wa Iria’s second and final term ends in August
Accompanying the manifesto on the microblogging platform were posters of Kang’ata and Winnie Mwangi, his nominee for the deputy governor post
Catching the attention of many was one of the photos on which the portraits of Kang’ata and his deputy nominee have been inscribed.
Seen in the background of the particular photo was a huge crowd which the senator seems to have implied was his.
The original photo shows NASA’s 2017 presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga addressing a huge gathering of his supporters at Nairobi’s Uhuru Park grounds.
In the doctored one, the image of Raila has been expunged and now what can be seen therein are those of Kang’ata and his running mate nominee.
