Jubilee Member of Parliament Wanjiku wa Kibe on Thursday, August 11 deleted a statement in which she conceded defeat in the Gatundu South parliamentary election.
Wa Kibe, in her latest address, confirmed that she was still in the race and was keenly monitoring the tallying process as results trickle in.
“Gatundu North Member of National Assembly is still currently ongoing. Sleepless nights,” she stated.
On August 10, the lawmaker who was seeking her second term in office accepted defeat after admitting that it would be nearly impossible to defend her seat.
She further congratulated the candidate who was leading in the provisional results. Kibe thanked the Gatundu South residents for giving her the opportunity to lead them.
“We may not have been able to do everything but no doubt we gave our best to ensure the transformation of our great constituency. May God bless you and I will always remain indebted to you,” she stated.
The lawmaker further called for other unsuccessful candidates and the winner to work together for the betterment of the constituency and country.
“Without or within politics, life goes on. Congratulations to the winners and all the best to the non-successful Candidates. Let’s build this nation together,” Kibe noted
