Billionaire Jane Wanjiru : Richest Woman At The Nairobi Stock Exchange

Jane Wanjiru Michuki ranks among the wealthiest women in Kenya whose assets are valued at billions of Shillings.

In 2018, Knight and Frank reported that out of the 125 Kenyans who were worth more than Sh3 billion, only 23 were women. Jane was among them.

Ms. Michuki pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Nairobi and then proceeded to Kenya School of Law for a Postgraduate diploma.

She then traveled to the United Kingdom where she proceeded to graduate with a Master of Laws from Warwick University.

She also has a Certificate in Human Rights and International Instruments from Netherlands Institute of Human Rights.

Jane is the Managing Partner at a corporate law firm named Kimani and Michuki Advocates. They boast of a rich client network including one of Kenya’s biggest financial institutions, Equity Bank Holding.

She has been at the helm of negotiating some of the biggest commercial contracts in the field of finance. Her expertise includes: contracts negotiations, financial negotiations and perfecting securities.

Her investments stretch over some of the biggest companies in the region including Equity and Britam. In 2018, she had a 9.5% stake in Britam which was valued at over Sh5.4 billion. She owned the stake through an investment firm where her stake was 44.4 per cent.

She has also served as a board member in some of the biggest companies (and still serves in others) including:

British American Tobacco Kenya
Institute for Education in Democracy, where she also served as chairperson
Women in Law and Development Africa (WILDAF)

Jane Wanjiru Michuki has also served as a trustee and vice chairperson of Federation of Women Lawyers, and the chairperson of the National Construction Authority of Kenya.
