Was Ruto Lectured?:Truth Behind Video of Ruto Being Lectured Over Raila in Dakar Conference

A video of President William Ruto purportedly being lectured by his colleague over the state of affairs in Kenya is fake and misleading.

In the video shared widely on Thursday, January 27, Ruto was reportedly lectured over the treatment of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga concerning the 2022 presidential results.

“I want you to go back to your country and fix it. The leader of the opposition is crying that his victory was snatched.

“Go back to your country. Peace in your country is important over this conference in Africa,” the man purportedly lectured Ruto.

However,we established that the video was fake with the audio altered – commonly referred to as deep fake.

Deepfakes use deep learning artificial intelligence to mimic the real subject with the sole intention of creating fake and misleading news.

While the video was taken during the Dakar 2 Summit, the audio was edited as the sound did not match the original audio from videos shared by State House.

Additionally, the deep fake audio did not match the speaker’s mouth movements and gestures.

In some instances, the audio kept playing while the speaker was pausing.

On the other hand, the conference was on food security, and the original video showed that the speaker was speaking about water reservations.
