Longtime Critic of Governor Otichilo Arrested, Youth Group claims

A section of Vihiga youth supported by Members of County Assembly have condemned the arrest of Alenga Torersterdt who is a known county government critic.

Vihiga Members of the assembly including Hon Swadi,Hon Bagada Violet,Hon Jackline,Hon Atsiaya termed the action as Inhuman thus denying citizens the freedom of expression.

Alenga is known to a strong critic of the County Government of Vihiga, led by Hon. Wilber Otichilo.
Alenga has been taking a firm stand against corruption.

His quest for transparency and accountability has gained him many enemies in the county government who view him as a nagging pain.

On Thursday he was grilled and arrested in Nairobi by Director of Criminal Investagations(DCI) officers. He was taken to Kakamega police station after. He is set to appear in court on Monday to face various criminal charges including: illegal possession of official documents of the Vihiga County Government; lying to the public with unconfirmed receipts; defamation and character assassination.

Though up to now he has not been served with any Charge sheet,it worries why the accused has been in police cells for more than 48hours pending investigations.

A section of youth led by Sindani,Mark among others are set to stage a demonstration tomorrow morning to protest his arrest.
